Hi,
I am testing Service Based Architecture for GP 2015 R2 installation. I had previously tried Web Client in GP 2013.
While i have successfully install SBA in a test VM, I notice that there is similar feature called Web Service.
Reading through the available online material for Web Service, I have the impression that these 2 technologies is almost identical.
Can someone with more experience, explain?

I found this question in SO
stackoverflow.com/.../wsdl-vs-rest-pros-and-cons
so, SBA = REST, Web Services = SOAP
Hi Hendry,
SBA is a REST based architecture... Web Services is not. Which means also that you can use the full range of Sanscript language on SBA. See Mariano's blog post back in 2014 here : http://dynamicsgpblogster.blogspot.ca/2014/08/microsoft-dynamics-gp-2015-developers.html
Have you watched the Video from Microsoft about the SBA setup ? https://youtu.be/2K04yKOxySY
This blog entry from Jivtesh Sing may be helpful as well : https://community.dynamics.com/gp/b/gpjivtesh/archive/2015/03/11/using-the-new-dynamics-gp-2015-rest-services-in-sba-service-based-architecture
Hi Tim,
I have read that before, but there is no comparison with Web Services.
I am evaluating some customization idea and would like to decide whether to use SBA or not
I am aware that Web Service sits on top of eConnect and there is some limitation that can not be done in Web Service.
But Web Services has security and policy settings, which I can not find in SBA
This link might help.

Also look at what you need to access, for example transactions with SOP module is not available using SBA at this time.
regards,
Tim
