Hi All ,
Assume that AX AOS /SQL server is down or AOS service is down .In such cases , MS Flow can trigger any notifications to group of people who needs to take necessary actions. I know there are many tools available in the market ,but keen to understand that MS flow can support this requirement ?
Thanks in advance.
You could use Flow to ping the services on regular basis and send notification when it doesn't get any response, but it doesn't sound like the right tool to me.
Hi lally,
If your system is down then your flow that shall execute some actions on the system will fail.
I regularly have this when I do some testing in demo environments that I shut down overnight.
If flows are scheduled to run at a time the machine is down then it fails and I get an error message in my mail box.
Best regards,
Ludwig
Hi Martin ,
Could you explain the reason that MSflow is not right tool and what is the best tool which you feel ?
Thanks Ludwig for the reply .
Do you have MS documentation on this scenario specially ? or any blogs available ?
Does D365F&O sandbox has MS Flow also as default or do we need to install ?
Hi Lally,
Is your question related to cloud or on-premise deployments? If cloud, Microsoft Dynamics Engineers will get notified and/or persons at the data centers to immediate mitigate the issue.
If you are referring to on-premise, then using Microsoft Power Automate (sorry, new name for Microsoft Flow) is cumbersome as you would need to develop custom connectors. Power Automate is a cloud service, not aware of servers in your local environment. I do assume with an on-premise environment, you will not expose your SQL server on the internet.
Please see the feedback/questions of Andre and provide some feedback.
I often see this issue in my sandbox if the machine is shut down.
Guess you can easily replicate it.
To use Flow, the service (such as SQL Server) must either be reachable from the internet (which is a security risk), or you'd need a kind of gateway to access the local system.
Another potential problem is that Flow isn't free and frequently running such a flow means extra costs. Obviously it also depends on how frequently you run it, how many other flows you have and/or how much money you're willing to pay.
