Deposits in GP Help!

Can someone tell me/point me in the direction of where I can find the exact steps (in order) to enter a deposit into GP? For example, we received a refund for $25 via eft.

I am not sure what I need to do first...bank transaction, post then bank deposit and post? Or just bank deposit and post?

This software is very confusing after using QuickBooks Pro for 20 years.

If you are referring to a refund from a vendor of yours, Victoria Yudin has a great set of steps using the Return transaction type in Payables Management.

    victoriayudin.com/.../

This will help to keep your vendor totals OK for year-to-date, show you received a refund in vendor history and then automatically be waiting in Bank Deposit Entry for you to record it in the checkbook.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks.

Thank you but I am really looking for the simple step by step version of entering deposits in GP. Most of our AR is processed through an external system but for the one-off deposits such as a random direct deposit/e-payment.

I believe that I enter a bank transaction, post then enter deposit (which is in the list) and post. Is that correct?

Your non-customer $25 EFT deposit example is very easy to enter in GP:  Transactions > Financial > Bank Transactions.

Thank you. Then I post then I have to go into Bank Deposits, select that and post right?

Increase Adjustments go straight to the checkbook.  (Only Cash Receipts that can be combined into a single transaction to match what you'll see on the bank statement are visible/grouped in Bank Deposit Entry.  Enter Receipt in Bank Transaction Entry would be available in Bank Deposit Entry and can be grouped with other Receipts, including from Receivables.)

Thank you. When I did this last month, the transaction was not listed when I went to reconcile the bank statement. It only showed up if I did a deposit.

Inquire back on last month's transaction.  (Inquiry > Financial > Checkbook Register is a great window for this.)  I think you will find it is either an RM Cash Receipt or a Bank Transaction where the Option selected was Enter Receipt (and not Enter Transaction).
