Some hopefully simple questions for CRM 2011 around default views using web access (not Outlook):

1. how do I change the default view when a user first logins to CRM. Right now Opportuntiies is the default?

2. can I set different default login views for different teams/users?

3. can each user set their own default? where is this done?

Thanks, Mike

    Hello,

    1. There is no standard feature for administrators to change the default screen for a user.

    2. Again, there is no standard feature for administrators to set different default views for different users/teams.

    3. Users can set their own default views. To do this, click on the Views tab in the main application ribbon, then click the Set As Default button while the preferred view is selected.

If you want more administrative control over user views, you might want to check out this blog which provides a free tool that might help. http://xrm2011.wordpress.com/.

Thanks for the response. Based on your answer (3), I think perhaps I'm using the wrong terminology. Trying to be as clear as possible:

1, User opens IE and goes to URL: crm.mycompany.com/main.aspx

    2. The Home Page is the Opportunities entity with My Active Opportunities view

How do we change the Homepage either systemwide or by user to: Accounts entity with My Active Accounts view?

    Thanks again, Mike

Users can change their start 'pane' and 'tab' in the Options screen. In the main application ribbon, select Options from the File tab. The user will also need to change their default view to My Active Accounts using the procedure described earlier.

Thanks, Neil.. all worked well for individual use.

Is there some admin system setting to change the Home Page default entity from Opportunities to Accounts?

Unfortunately not. Administrators can specify the default view for each entity, but everything else is a user preference that needs to be set by each user.

All these settings are stored in the database, however, so you can develop utilities to enable an administrator to manage the settings centrally. But this depends on the availability of development resources and the value of this feature.
