Restricting procurement categories to specific legal entities

To my understanding the procurement hierarchy is shared across legal entities and so are the procurement categories within the hierarchy.

I know its possible to inactivate  category but that is across all legal entities. I could remove related ledger posting setup so posting cant be done even if category is selectable, but this is not so nice....

But how would you do if certain categories should only be available in specific legal entities ?

    Hi,
Do you know if there are possible to restrict access to retail hierarchy users of a legal entity.
For example give authorize launched products in one category belongs to a company , but continue to sell products of another entity without being able to change the hierarchy.

    Merci,

    Hi Daxer,

The question did not mention you want to restrict the purchase orders. The purchasing policies are restricting the categories on the requisitions only as far as I have seen.

So the XDS or another customization would be your solution now.

    Hi André

I want to restrict categories directly on purchase orders (not stated at first). Not on requisitions. And to my knowledge the purchasing policies are (only) for purchase requisitions.

I want to use standard as much as possible, so XDS is not (yet) an option, then.

    Hi Baber

No, I haven't thought about XDS policies. Wouldn't have thought this relevant for restricting categories (it's not user related restrictions).

    Hi Daxer,

You can create multiple purchasing policies. You can setup one for allowing some companies to access certain categories and some not.

This would require some more maintenance on the policies. Compare this option with the XDS option provided by Baber and look which would feels better. XDS requires a customization and needs to be reviewed during upgrades (quite easy for XDS if you only use new objects).

    Hi Daxer,

Have you thought of using the Extensible data security framework? I think the scenario you have mentioned above could be achievable by using XDS policies. Below is the link to white paper:

Please have a look and let me know if you have further queries.

    Thanks,

    Baber.
