User Login information

Posted on by

I am fairly new to Dynamics, we currently have a Dynamics 365 Sales subscription.

I am the global administrator.  I need to get information on User logins. Last time they logged in, etc.

When I try to access the Security an compliance reports, I get the following message:

You don’t have permission to view reports. Ask your administrator to give you permissions.

How do I give myself permissions?

Looks like auditing is all there is.  I was looking for usage prior to turning it on, so I'm out of luck.

    RE: User Login information

    Hi RR,

I think those security and compliance reports in Office 365 won't show you anything for CRM. Dynamics is not mentioned there:

You may have to go to Dynamics and look at the audit logs there.

However, I'm not sure you'll be able to get "logins" as such.. User access audit will show you when users were accessing the application, but not really when they logged in/logged out:

If you are not in System Administrator role, and yours is Dynamics 365 online then

    Settings->Security-> Users

Select your User account and click the button Promote to Admin

    Hi

Are you in System Administrator role?

For User access times, you have to enable Audit User Access, in Settings->Administration

    RE: User Login information

You should be able to audit user access by changing the audit settings.

Navigate to Settings, Auditing, Global Audit settings.  Ensure that 'Audit User Access' is selected.

To view the logins after a few days of logging, Navigate back to Settings, Auditing, and select Audit Summary View.  Filter on User Access and you should see the logins.

Note:  There does not appear to be a way to export this data, however you probably could do it with KingswaySoft SSIS toolkit, or some other SDK export of the audit data.

    RE: User Login information

    Hi Rotten Rotties,

Unfortunately, your question is in the wrong community. You'll get more answers in either Dynamics 365 Enterprise Edition (which Dynamics 365 for Sales belongs) or Dynamics CRM (the former name of Dynamics 365 for Sales).

    Good luck!
