Hi

We run Nav Dynamics version w1 6.00 classic with sql2008 standard edition. Business has asked the we change the company name to reflect the new company name. Does anyone know how this is done. We also run LsRetail down at store level so we use data director as well.

    RE: Renaming Company Name

Why you want to rename the company through code? Any specific reason?

I would suggest you to not to do that. Once you rename the company it will rename the entire SQL DB table names as well. So it is not a good move to rename company in regular basis.

    RE: Renaming Company Name

    Hi Amol,

What is the main idea behind renaming the company?  Is it to display the new name on the reports?

Is there any other specific reason?

    Best Regards,

    MMV

You will need to run the classic client from your start menu (And will need to be a super user)

"Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 Classic with Microsoft SQL Server"

    When it opens click:

File, Database, Open - Connect to the server

File, Company, Open - Make sure you in the company you want to rename

File, Company Rename - Type in the new company name

    Couple of things:

This could affect customization in your system (Probably not)

All other users must be off the system (Or they will get some weird error messages)

DO THIS IN A TEST SYSTEM FIRST

After running it is the test system try out one of each of your transaction types just to be sure things are working as they should
