Trigger Real-Time Email from Invoice and display Invoice Details

I would like to set up an email journey to be triggered by an Invoice. Within that email, I would like to display the invoice details.

For this example, we have a 4-part course that can be purchased in sections or in a bundle. Currently we have 4 separate email journeys that are triggered on the invoice detail. So when someone purchases 2-4 sections, they receive 2-4 confirmation emails. It seems like there should be a way to display all the invoice details from a specific invoice in an email.

I tried to use "Personalize > Lists" to do this but nothing shows up in the email preview or in the email body when I did a test purchase of the course.

    1. Ensure Proper Relationships in Dataverse
    • Invoice (Parent) → Invoice Details (Children): 1:N relationship must exist and be exposed to Customer Insights - Journeys via Data Integration.
    1. Create a Custom Trigger on Invoice Creation
    • In Customer Insights – Journeys, create a Real-Time Marketing Trigger that fires on Invoice creation (not on Invoice Detail).
    • Make sure it includes key attributes (Invoice ID, Contact lookup, etc.).
    1. Use a Real-Time Journey with the Invoice as the Entry Point
    2. In the Email:
    • Insert Invoice fields using @Model.<FieldName>.
    • For Invoice Lines:
      • Use Personalize > Loop > Related data (Lists).
      • Choose the Invoice Details relationship.
      • Inside the loop, use fields like @Item.productname, @Item.quantity, @Item.amount.
    1. Common Mistake: If you test by triggering on Invoice Details, you get multiple emails — once per detail. Always trigger the journey on the Invoice level to avoid this.
    2. Testing Tip:
    • Send to yourself using the test feature with a real Invoice that has related Invoice Details.
    • Make sure records are available in Customer Insights - Journeys sync (check Customer Card > Related Entities).

    Hello Muhammad,

That is what I am trying to do, but when I create a list from the Invoice trigger, I am unable to drill down into fields from the Invoice Details.
