Hi everyone,

I have a simple question about microsoft ax. Is it possible to issue quotes and estimates to prospective clients for anticipated work to be done? Or does the system only generate a "quote" and no estimate?

    Hi Robjob,

I believe you can use quotation for that because Whether it is cost/price estimates or activity estimates or resource estimates. All are covered in WBS while creating project quotation.

    Good morning Robjob,

AX makes use of quotes only.

There is no feature for what you call estimate / best guess.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hello Ludwig,

An estimate would be a "best guess" of the total price of a project. It is preliminary in nature and not binding.

A quote would be a "firm" fixed price of the project.

    Does AX have such features?

    Hello Robjob,

Can you describe in more detail what you understand as an 'estimate' and what differentiates this estimate from a quotation?

    Many thanks,

    Ludwig

    Hi Robjob,

Are you using Project Accounting module?  If yes, then you can use project quotation from project accounting and build your quotation based on Work breakdown structure and system will create the rate card along with work activities that has be done for your client.
