hum..so far, i know AX client works on windows authentication only. If the login user is not present in AX, he/she ends with failed to log error (no problem in that)

Are you trying to use AX without active directory ? Give me more shed on this.

    Best Regards,

First of all the tags for your post are incorrect, please fix them. Current version means Dynamics 365 for Operations in the Azure cloud, while you are talking about AX 2012.

Microsoft Dynamics AX has a pre-requisite that users must be members of your Active Directory forest, and they must be created upfront within AX by a System administrator with the proper security roles, and get enabled.

If those conditions are not met, then the user will simply not be able to log in.

The authentication happens when your user logs on to your network using Windows with a domain account, and AX takes over that user context. It is possible to run the client with a different users' credential though by using Shift+right click on the executable or the shortcut.

AX does support one automated way of providing user access, which is done via Active Directory user groups. Once you add a user to the AD group, AX will automatically add the user access for them from the group. You may read up on this here:

You can the do automatic security role assignment for them as well:

You can set up default settings so that a user opens the same company every time they launch AX.

File > Tools > Options > General Tab > Options FastTab – Start company accounts and select desired company from the dropdown.

Any other navigation can be saved to favourites so its only one more click.
