Visible/unvisible financial dimensions

Does anyone has had the following issue:

Company A - has it's own part of financial dimensions

Company B - has it's own part of financial dimensions

Is it possible to do the following:

a) user from Company A can SEE on the list only common and THEIR financial dimensions..

b) user from Company B can SEE on the list only common and THEIR financial dimensions..

Very glad for any ideas.. :)

    Hi Witold,

    You can achieve this by creating two account structures with the same main account, dimension. Per account structure you can limit the valid values. So you can have the common and dimensions A for company A and also applicable for B.

    If you are using AX2012 R2 you can setup the account structure within you ledger form and eventually use the same chart of accounts.

    Prior to AX2012 R2 you have to create separate chart of accounts per company as the account structures are linked at the CoA in earlier versions of AX2012.

    I was to fast a little...:( as I can see AX2012 is using the SAME serial number for Department, CostCentre, and Purpose dimension (if I am wrong - just correct me !)... When you create filter in account structure - it can use ONLY dimension ID - set up by the SAME serial number... therefore the scenario could looks like this:

    company is living... somebody is creating a new CostCenter -> it gets number 0065; then new Department is created with new number 0066; then - i.e. - new CostCentre is created with new number 0067....

    you are able to define filter for account structure still - but it looks as complicated...:( you have to add new and new parts of filter (BTW - I do not know how many AND structures you can add in filter...)

    Your solution will be pretty if there is possibility to add separated serial numbers to each dimension ... could it be possible...?

    Hi Witold,

    It is possible to use the semicolon ' ; ' as the AND clause within the account structures. You can also create multiple conditions by creating multiple lines. You can also set some series like '0065..0071;0087;0091..0095'.

    Hi Andre ,

    I have one more question , hope you can help me .

    I have Dimension code - Region and Dimension values are  M1,M2, M3, M4  and S1, S2 , S3 ,S4.

    Company A - has it's own part of financial dimensions

    Company B - has it's own part of financial dimensions

    My requirement is How can create the dimension values company specific wise .

    It means  For company A  - Should have M1, M2, M3, M4

    Company B - should have  S1, S2, S3, S4

    Please help me .

    Hi,

    if you use AX2012 R2 then you can solve your problem in the following way:

    1. Company A and Company B have their chart of accounts;

    2. You shall create values of Region dimension in the way allowing you easily filter values depending on company - i.e. for company A values for region could be: A_M1, A_M2 etc.. ; for company B: B_S1, B_S2 etc..

    3. You create account structure including main account+Region (your defined dimension);

    4. In Company A - you attach your main accounts for using with the Region dimension by filtering and you also set the filter for Region dimension - based on my example: filter shall be: A* - it allow in company A using only regions starting from A...

    5. In Company B - you attach your main accounts for using with the Region dimension by filtering and you also set the filter for Region dimension - based on my example: filter shall be: B* - it allow in company A using only regions starting from B...

    Hi,

    1. Prereqisities:

    A. Main Accounts created:

    B. REGION Dimension with values is created:

    C. Two account structures created AND ACTIVATED (does not matter in which companies) - one for Region dimension filtered by A*; the second - for Region dimension filtered by B*

    D. Two companies created: Company A  and Company B

    E. Ledger defined for each Company:

    AND NOW IS MOST IMPORTANT PART:

    during setting up Ledger for Company A - you have to attach account structure REGION_FOR_A to the ledger:

    and during setting up Ledger for Company B - you have to attach account structure REGION_FOR_B to the ledger in the same way.
