Form Group Fields Arrangement

Posted on by 3,542

Hi

I have a Form (Table of Contents) >> Tab >> Tab Page >>Tab (Pattern: changeable) >> Tab Page >> Group

Inside the group I have two check boxes. They are arranged vertically, but my consultant wants them to be arranged horizontally (it would look better).

I am struggling to complete this simple task.

Any help will be appreciated

    Simple Answer.

    change your pattern size property;

Ex: If you used Dialog-FastTab pattern. go to properties of pattern and change the DialogSize property.

    DialogSize : medium.

for my case when the Dialogsize was small fieldgroup appear in one column. when i changed the DialogSize to Medium its appeared in two columns.

    Hope its helpful.

In this case you need to set pattern for tab page to Custom and set columns to 2 on the group. Custom allowed only when your form does not meet standard design guidelines because of some reason. BP warring that you see can be safely ignored. For ISV you have to provide justification of pattern deviation, but if it's a custom implementation you don't need to do anything special.

BP literally tells you that your form will look different to other forms in AX but that's what you after anyway.

I lied. I'm not managing. I guess my questions can in general be answered with links (super beginner here).

When is the "Custom" pattern allowed?

The "horizontal fields and buttons group" won't work because it requires a button, which I don't have.

Did you try to apply docs.microsoft.com/.../horizontal-fields-buttons-group-subpattern to a group ?

When I change it to custom, I also have the option to set the "Arrange Method".

There are many options: HorizontalWrap, HorizontalLeft, HorizontalRight, None, Vertical, Auto.

Should I try one of those, or stick to changing "Columns" to 2?

I set the Tab Page pattern to fields and field groups - the correct one as I understand. In that configuration, the columns property in the group control is not visible.

I can change it to custom, but then I get a BP violation.

Set "Columns" property of the group control to 2 instead of 1.
