Changing the Status of a lead when the lead qualifies

I have noticed that once a lead qualifies, its status is set to qualified. I guess this happens because of an out of  the box system plugin. What I want to do is set the status of the lead to one of my own custom value like 'On-boarded' rather than qualified.  How could I achieve this?  

Any suggestions are most welcomed.

    As Mohd specified, Status Reason is definitely not the field you are looking to change but Status instead. And you won't be able to change it with standard customization.

    Hi,

    There is another field with name 'Status' which needs to be changed not 'Status reason'. Unfortunately that field isn't customizable out of the box.

    You could that but if you want you can use your own business process without using the Convert button. So with a workflow say when i change the status of a lead , to create an opportunity etc. Use workflows to do it without clicking the Qualify button.

    Hi,

    You could edit the option set Status Reason of Lead entity. 

    Go to Settings --> Customizations --> Customize the system --> Entities --> Lead --> Fields.

    Select the status reason field and the following window appears.

    You can edit the field here. Hope this helps.

    Hi
    It is CRM OOB featured, Best way is you have to remove default qualify button and place custom button in the lead form
