Pricing logic when setting price list optional

Hi!

We want to use the product catalog, with defined products, cost and list price. Using the product catalog settings and setting "make price list optional" we are hoping that we don't need to create price lists and price list items. Indeed I can select any product without a price list with this setting on, but the pricing causes some confusion. I was hoping that this setting would select the price som "list price" on the product, instead it seems to set "override price" as default. Even if I slide it back to use default it doesn't set any prices.

Is there no way of getting the "add products" window to use the list price on the product? If the product has a price list element everything works as it has done since CRM 3.0. What is the point of making price list optional if you still need to add a price list item for each product to get default pricing to work. Any thoughts on how I can add products to a quote (or opportunity or order) and use the price from the "list price" on product or am I stuck using price list elements? If so I don't get the point of optional price lists. Please help me out :)

RE: Pricing logic when setting price list optional

    Hi!

    Thank your for answering.

If you go into product catalog settings and enable the "make price list optional" setting and you don't have any pricelists and price list items in your system, then pricing doesn't work. Prices are purely taken from price list items even if this setting is enabled.

What I'm looking for is enabling this setting, which logically should mean that you don't need to use price lists and price list items and then have the logic pick the prices directly from the product and "list price" field.

    Hi,

I have tried to reproduce your issue but failed.

When I create a new quote line and select an existing product, the option "Pricing" is "Use Default" by default and the "Price Per Unit" is the value in the price list specified on the quote for existing products, which is also locked.

This is consistent with the documentation description. (PricePerUnit)

And if the option is set as "Override Price", the "Price Per Unit" field will be unlocked.

I changed the value and switch the option back to "Use Default", the value I input will be changed back to the default value even if the quote line record is saved.

If there is any misunderstood, please let me know.
