Apply Restrictions to Security Roles for a USER in AX 2012

Hi,

I am using AX 2012 R2 CU7.

I have not extensively played with Security Roles. I have scenario as below,

I have a USER "ABC". I have assigned him the role "Accountant".

Now I want that this user should NOT see anything from the "SETUP" details in the CONTENT PANE.

I was reviewing this and I think, I need to collect all the Menu items in the SETUP details, and the Privileges for these Menu items and then accordingly use this detail to customize it further by customizing the role.

As this is going to take a lot of time, I wanted to ask like is there a better way to achieve this in shorter time.

Would appreciate for your help.

Sincerely,

Muneeb

I figured out few duties. After removing those duties from my role, the required information was removed from the SETUP area in the content pane.

However, this issue I am facing is, the information from other areas like COMMON,etc. is also being removed from the CONTENT PANE.

This task is really time consuming. Now I have to again look dig deeper inside duties and find out which all privileges the duty have and then look deeper into Privileges to look for Menu Items.

Is there a better was to achieve this.

I just want that user ABC should be assigned with the role - "Accountant_Modified" (Duplicated Name) which should NOT contain anything that is displayed in the SETUP area of the Content Pane.

Would appreciate for smart way of achieving this task.

    Sincerely,

    Muneeb

    Hi Muneeb,

The security development tool can help you identifiying the privileges and duties linked to menu items. Some privileges or duties indeed contains menun items from the setup as well as other sections. In some cases you need to duplicate duties and/or privileges and adjust them to get the desired result. Now.yu.have a role with some menu items missing, you can use the SDT to find out if you can assign some standard privileges to this role or needs to create custom security objects.

    Hi Mohammed,

Please download the security development tool as André suggests. You can download it from the LCS website.
