Dear All,

Can you please let me know what is the best approach to take backup of SSRS report ?

Means if i want to move SSRS report from Dev environment to UAT environment then without any problem it will move and run in both environment properly.

Please let me know the best approach.

Please give me more shed on this.

Thanks!

Export the components involved (query, dataset, table, visual studio project, ssrs report, etc.) as XPO or through a model, then import it in the target environment.

If the reports' VS project has a Project output DLL, sometimes you need to compile the project in Visual Studio in the target instance too then save it back to AOT for generating the output file.

Full CIL compilation and AOS restart might be required. If that is done, you could deploy the report from the AOT.

TFS stores all objects individually as XPOs, it is not so much different from taking the object and exporting it yourself for the purpose of backing it up.

The difference it makes has been explained countless times on forums and blogs, provides traceability with each modification (check-in), and is considered an "automated" way of backing up your code.

    Hi @rp@n

all reports design that you are deployed, you can see it in reportserver database.

so if your changes in design only just back up this database, and restore it at any time

if your changes on classes and quires,

you must export XPO as Vilmos Kintera and  Sukrut Parab mention

    Hi,

You can find the basic concept of the reporting services, and connection to the SQL here:

Overview of Reporting Services [AX 2012]

In general the reporting SQL is a different DB from what AX uses for storing business data and model store, its is used for configuring and running the reporting services.

    Regards,

    István
