Is upgrading from GP 2015 14.00.1230 to GP 18.00.672 a supported upgrade path?

We are currently on GP 2015 and plan to upgrade to GP 18.2.1036 before April 2020.  Since upgrade from GP 2015 directly to GP 18.2.1036 is not a supported path, we will need to upgrade to an intermediate GP version.  Microsoft website has not been updated to include upgrading from 14.00.1230 to any other GP versions as of today.  Is directly upgrading from GP 2015 14.00.1230 to GP 18.00.0672 a supported upgrade path?

    Hi Okwokdowco,

Please reference the GP Community experts' posts in the following link:

    community.dynamics.com/.../error-upgrading-from-gp-2015-14-00-1230-to-gp-18-00-0672-following-supported-upgrade-path

Upgrade in two hops (14.00.1230 -> 16.00.0814  -> 18.2.1060) worked for us in a test environment.

So far in my testing I haven't been able to upgrade 14.00.1230 (which is the latest version of 2015 that I'm aware of) to anything 2016 or 2018 in my test environment.  Has anyone else been able to?

The upgrade path to GP 18.2 is

    Dynamics GP Upgrade paths

    16.00.0716 or later

    Mid-Year

    KB4099098

    18.00.0496 or later

    Mid-Year

    KB4099101

Using anything other than this runs the risk of having tables and stored procedures not being updated properly. It may say it was updated successfully but down the road you will run into issues. In my opinion it is not worth the risk.  It is possible that tables that tracks updates was manually adjusted.

We have some updates to share for this subject.

When running GP Utilities upgrading from GP 14.00.1230 to GP 18.00.0672, we actually got the following errors:

"Failure encountered ON 3/2/2020 at 10:30:54 AM.  Error:  Product 0 does not support upgrading from version 14.0.1230.

Failure encountered ON 3/2/2020 at 10:30:54 AM.  Error:  Product 309 does not support upgrading from version 14.0.1220.

Failure encountered ON 3/2/2020 at 10:30:54 AM.  Error:  Product 414 does not support upgrading from version 14.0.1219.

Failure encountered ON 3/2/2020 at 10:30:54 AM.

Error:  Product 414 does not support upgrading from version 14.0.1219."

The above upgrade path was documented as a supported one.  But the path did not work for us.

Surprisingly, run GP Utilities upgrading from 14.00.1230 to 18.2.1036 succeeded without any error.  But the path is not supported per Microsoft.

    Does anyone have similar experience?

It is worth noting to be careful and be sure to upgrade all of the modules you have licensed even the ones you are not using. We went from 2013 to 2018 and we made the mistake of not installing/upgrading a module we purchased and then never used and then not upgrading a test company we had planned on removing. Aside from those two headaches and the time it took, the process was pretty easy and painless. Also be sure to export any customized forms and reports. To be safe after each upgrade we exported and then imported into the next one and tested before moving on to the next version. Again, time consuming but well worth it.

You will need to upgrade to GP 2016 or 2018 as below.

You will need to be at least on version 14.00.0898 which you are so can go directly to GP 2018.
