New field added not showing under report's dataset

Hi All,

In AX 2012 R3 CU8 environment, I added a new field in PurchPurchaseOrderHeader table, but this field is not showing under report's dataset when I refresh it in Visual Studio. Don't ask me to try the following things, have already tried it multiple times but in vain:

  • Refresh cache from Tools -> Cache option.
  • Delete .auc files.
  • Restart AOS.
  • Restart SQL server reporting services.
  • Save the report to AOS to make sure VS is connecting to the right AX environment and changes did get save to the report design.
  • Incremental and full CIL.
  • Synchronize the table and check that the new field is showing in SQL server.

If anyone have any other suggestions or clue, please let me know. This issue is driving me nuts.

Thanks,

Baber.

Tables are not directly used as report data sources. Assuming that your report is based on a query, verify that the field exists there.

Changing the default client configuration to point to DEV AOS worked for me. Although, the VS was connecting to the right environment which is DEV, but I just tried to change the client configuration to point to DEV. Previously, it was pointing to TEST.

    Thanks,

    Baber.

If the report uses a Report Data Provider as its data source, Baber's listed step of incremental & full CIL compile (I'd normally expect only incremental to be required) should make the field visible in the Visual Studio data provider selection dialog, shouldn't it?

I'm aware this thread is pretty old at the time of writing, but in case anyone else reads the query suggestion and thinks "that's not relevant to me, I'm using RDP class", thought it worth adding.

If he's using a data provider and if he added the field to a table used by the data provider (we know neither), then yes, the field should become available for selection.
