We have to void approximately 1,000 checks. Voiding the historical transaction would not be too too bad for us but when getting to the voiding of the open transaction, it looks like you have to do it by vendor. Has anyone come up with a better way to void checks in mass? I wonder if getting a script written that would void all open transaction would work?

There is not a process in standard GP functionality that will allow you to mass void checks. Maybe someone in the community knows of a third-party product, or has an alternative solution to this issue that they can provide, if so maybe they will be able to chime in on this thread.
