D356 Sales Dual Write Product Activation

Hi All,

Hope I'm asking this in the correct section...

We managed to setup Dual write on Products between F&O & D365 Sales.

However, the products are just left in a draft status in D365 and should still be published.

I would like to know if DW cant handle this, if so where do we activate this feature of publishing/activate the product without doing it manually.

The other option is probably power automate/workflow/plugin etc but I would like to avoid this to see if DW cant handle this?

many thanks

    Hi,

I wanted to ask if you were able to figure this out as we are also experiencing this and don't want an automatic process of activating products?

    Hi,

It sounds like you’ve successfully set up Dual Write for products between Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O) and Dynamics 365 Sales, but you’re encountering an issue where products remain in draft status in D365 Sales and aren’t automatically published.

    1. Dual Write Limitations for Product Activation

Currently, Dual Write primarily syncs data between F&O and Sales but doesn’t automatically handle record status changes like publishing products. Dual Write typically transfers data, but certain actions, like changing product status from draft to published, may require additional automation.

    2. Automating Product Publishing with Power Automate

To address this limitation, you can create a Power Automate flow to trigger when a new product is created or updated in Dynamics 365 Sales. The flow can automatically change the product status to “Published”:

    • Set up a trigger in Power Automate for when a product record is created or modified in D365 Sales.
    • Add an action to update the product’s status field to “Published.”

This approach allows you to automate the publishing process without requiring manual intervention each time a new product is created.

    3. Custom Workflow or Plugin

If you prefer to keep the automation within Dynamics 365 and avoid Power Automate, consider using a custom workflow or plugin:

    • A custom workflow in D365 Sales can be triggered when a product is created, setting the status to “Published.”
    • Alternatively, a plugin can be developed to handle this status change programmatically based on predefined criteria.

    4. Configuring Dual Write Mapping (Advanced)

In some cases, advanced customization of Dual Write mapping might allow you to set default values or transformations, but this is limited and may not directly support status changes. Custom workflows or Power Automate flows are typically the recommended approach for this scenario.

Let me know if you need guidance on setting up the Power Automate flow or custom workflow. This should enable automatic product publishing without manual intervention.

    Best regards,

    Nelson.
