Bounce categories

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

Can someone please explain in detail what segment criterias that are hard bounces and soft bounces?

I need to setup a segment with only soft bounces and hard bounces to use in a customer journey, that creates a task for the contact owner. I have this under control, but need to know the difference. Tried to search for it, but didn't get a full understanding.

Thanks,

Emil

Also see " Email soft bounced" and also search for Soft on the following page: docs.microsoft.com/.../insights-glossary

This and the other link from Carsten should hopefully provide the answer you are looking for

    Hi Emil,

    docs.microsoft.com/.../email-bounce-categories

    should help you here.

    Hard Bounces are permanent, mainly

    invalid-mailbox and invalid-domain

Soft Bounces are temporary, e.g. full-mailbox

so there is some chance of delivery on subsequent attempts when the blocking issue is removed

    Regards,

    Carsten
