Set permission per field in AX 2012 R3

Dear all,

Is it possible to set permission per field in AX 2012 R3?

For example : user A can edit unit price in Purchase Order Line, but user B cannot edit unit price in Purchase Order Line.

For this example, should I create new Purchase Order Line with noneditable unit price for User B or is there any way to setting permission like this in AX?

Please help. Thank you.

Best regards,

Johanna

    Hi Johanna,

You can achieve this with the security roles. If you open the form Security roles, there is a button Override permissions.

Find the table. Then untick the option 'Do not override'. Then set the Override access level to the original value which was stated before you change the 'Do not override' option.

After these steps, you can expand the fields and per field you can now also use the 'Do not override' option and then specify if there is 'No access' or 'View'

Note this will change the role in the AOT. You can also use the Development workspace and manage the permissions node of the role to accomplish the same.

André provided you a good answer, by specifying that how to do it. I would like to add here an important note for you that AX 2012 security is ROLE BASED. It’s not user based. So if you are looking a thing to happen for user1 and expecting to block same thing for other user let’s say user2, you can do this by modifying roles. Again I would repeat its Role based, it’s not user based. You can duplicate roles and can overwrite permission for other user.
