Microsoft Dynamics AX Add-in for Word: Locals (regional settings)

Posted on by 6,194

What controls the locale when I create a Word document with the Office Add-In for Word?

If I for example want to make a quotations for a customer, I'd want the date format and decimal formats to be in the locale of the customr.

KB 2976705 fixes the issue :-)

    Guys, I found this:

KB 2976705 Data imported into a Microsoft Word document is always formatted in EN-US currency and decimal format

That's a fix that applies to R2. So I'm gonna try that.

    I'm on AX 2012 R2 CU7. Word is English.

Changing the proofing lanuage doesn't change the formatting.

I can see that the inserted "fields" are Word content controls, but they don't leave me much options to change to format.

Just tried, it does work on my AX 2012 R2 CU7.

There is just something strange about the decimal format:

I am logged in to my virtual development machine using RDP. The date format is applied via the virtual machine settings.

Using the Excel Office Add-In, the Excel from my local machine opens (there is no office installed on my virtual machine).

For the decimal format i had to change the region settings on my local machine, where excel is installed.

What version are you using? According to technet something changed in R2, although it only mentions language settings:

    Hi Palle,

I have seen this behavior as well. It looks like it just drops the database format. Are you using a Danish version of Word or an English? I have not tried to play with setting another proofing language in Word. Maybe you can indicate if this will work out or not.

That doesn't seem to be the case with the Office Add-In here.

I'm getting US decimal points on a development machine with settings for Denmark in the Control Panel. Client and AOS are on the same machine.

Date format depends on the regional settings of the client computer. They are defined in the control center.

You can also define decimal formats there. I didn't try if they apply for AX, but i guess so
