Hello,

We are deploying a new Dynamics AX 2012 system, and are looking on how to configure it to Office 365. Has anyone successfully integrrated AX (2009 or 2012) to Office 365? Any secrets on the SMTP relay configuration?

    Dan,

I have the same question.  Did you ever get any answers or do you have it working?

No feedback. It fell off of our radar for a while, but I'm just now getting back into setting this up. If I find anything interesting, I will let you know.

    Hi,

I had a similar request and found AX 2012 don’t support the TLS encryption which is mandatory when using office 365, so I have developed my own using System.Net.Mail.

    Regards,

    Bilal

we did with AX2009 with customization. It's worked perfectly . Because of TLS authentication we have to do some modifications in to several AX classes.

    Regards,

I was able to get it to work.  You have to setup an SMTP Relay for Office 365.  Here are the resources I used (followed pretty much step by step) and was able to get it to work:

    1. Setup SMTP Relay:

    technet.microsoft.com/.../dn554323.aspx

    2. Setup AX:

    technet.microsoft.com/.../aa834374.aspx

Is there anything specific you have to do to get ax to use TLS 1.2? Currently email is set up and working with office 365 but my reports tell me that it is not using any encryption at all. Would like to get this fixed before Microsoft eventually blocks traffic.

First off I had to change the code as mentioned in the Blog post so that AX talked directly to Office 365 with the parameters again mentioned in the post.  Without these code changes you ar forced to use a SMTP relay.  In the code you do not specify the version of TLS.  Looking at the internet headers of the email when it was received it looked to be using TLS1.2.  If it is not then on the DAX AOS server that sends the email follow the notes in this article to enable TLS1.2.  stackoverflow.com/.../net-framework-4-6-1-not-defaulting-to-tls-1-2

I was troubleshooting something else since the above with Wireshark on the server and could also see in the capture that TLSv1.2 is being used as listed in the protocol in Wireshark.
