Renew active entitlements

Hi,

Does anyone have a workaround for  renew active entitlements in CRM

An entitlement expires on January 1st  (a holiday)

but according to Microsoft:

To renew a canceled or expired entitlement, open the entitlement, and then on the command bar, select Renew.
The current entitlement will be set to Closed, and a new entitlement will be created.
The start date of this new entitlement is set to the current date and the end date is set to the current date plus the number of days between the end date and start date.
The data in other fields is copied from the old entitlement.

If I wait till the entitlement expires the new start date will be Jan 2nd, 3rd instead of the Dec 31

I want to be able to renew a entitlement as soon as I get our payment for the entitlement
As was the behaviour in the older version of CRM with Contract Renewals.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

    RE: Renew active entitlements

    Hi nickmang,

As document mentioned, the renew functionality is only for expired or cancelled entitlement. This is the current application behavior so you can’t renew active entitlement, which is different from contract entity in old version.

If you insist on renewing it on 31 December, you can create an on-demand workflow to change status to ‘expired’ in advance, you can run this workflow on any one day you want (in your scenario is 12.31), then renew it on that day at once.

1.Go Setting > Process to create a new workflow on entitlement entity.

    2.set trigger.

    3.add step.

    4.save and active the workflow.

    5.test.

Original date is 12.1 to 1.1, now i expand flow to run the workflow that I created just now.

After clicking it, the status has changed to ‘expired’, now you can renew it in advance though it isn’t reach end date.

You can also add this as an idea so that Ms can look forward to change this behavior in future. https://experience.dynamics.com/ideas/
