Return order registration

Dear all,

I am studying AX process, I perform cancel sales order by creating new sales order with minus quantity.

When I perform Update line > Registration and post all the registration but I don't understand what the meaning of this step.

Could you please explain to me about it?

    Dear

    It means item is putting back to the stock. When you made the sales order, item will be less from your stock. so if you wanna return the order you must do update line - registration then only item will come back to your stock again...

    Hi Sacramento,

    With marking goods as Registered, you are notifying the users and the system that goods are arrived to the warehouse. This step doesn't have any financial impact since no ledger transactions are posted, but will affect on-hand inventory where you will see the increased inventory. This step is mandatory only if you have item model group for that item configured to execute registration (Registration requirement flag in the Item model group). If this step is not required, you can skip it and post packing slip or invoice based on your procedure without reqistration. All depends on your inbound processes and the configuration of the system to stick to your processes.

    For clarity:  there is a difference between cancelling an order not yet picked, and cancelling an order picked and not yet shipped, and  an order that is shipped and invoiced and which is being returned via an RMA process.

    I suggest review the help and a few of the many blog posts that explain the return process e.g.

    I have posted registration, but in our process not manage put/pack to the stock.

    How to reverse posting the registration?

      Picking List Registration -> Lines -> Functions -> Cancel picking line

    Go to each registered Sales Order line, and cancel delivery reminder.
