Attributes versus Product Product group code

Hi 1. time user in th eforum, we are right now in teh middel of an update from 2009 to 2017 , we are used to have only two "attributes" namely Product group code and Item Category code, now the product group has "gone" i know it is still there but "invisible" we are aiming to use Attributes as this will give us some extra information for the parts that come in handy :-)

NOW big quistion is , how can we by using Rapid have the new attributes set to each part , we have som 22.000 parts so setting them manually will take a decade.

They should in my world either be in Tabel 27 or tabel 7500-7504 should somehow link to the partnumber.

Any suggestions anyone ?

BR.

Ravn..

This is done during data upgrade step. Follow blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../the-new-item-categories-feature-replaced-the-product-group-feature-in-dynamics-nav-2017

    Hi Jonathan

Thanks for the answer / link , this i already read , but it did not really say anything about how to get the import via Rapid to "work", I have asked a programemr to create a way for us to have our 1500 Product codes set at the 22.000 partnumbers :-)

    Hi Ravn,

I think you have two options.

The new 'Item Category' table can indent values in the same way 'Item Category' & 'Product Group Code' did in Version 2009. You would then apply the Product Group code from V2009 to the Item Category in V2017.

(V2017 Item Category can have multiple indentsa)

    Alternatively you can use Attributes.

You need to populate T7500 with a new Attribute, probably called' Product Group'.

You need to populate T7501 with all the Product Group codes from V2007.

You need to populate T7505, this links the Table ID, item No and Attribute Value & ID.

    Hope this helps.

Hi, the Posting does not describe importing data via rapidstart but autom. upgrading / converting product code data to item Attribute data when upgrading to nav 2017.
