Configuring an Absence Manager

(1) ShareShare

Hi,

I'm configuring an Absence Manager in Dynamics 365 HR so that a specific user can request and approve leave for the direct reports of another user.  Can someone answer any of the following questions for me, please:

  1. When adding the newly created Leave hierarchy on the Relationships tab in each position that the Absence Manager is going to manage, should the 'Reports to Position' selected be that of the Absence Manager’s position?
  2. When amending the existing leave and absence workflow and associating it with the new Leave hierarchy, will the ‘usual’ non-hierarchy approval path within this workflow still be triggered for those requesters whose positions have not been assigned to the hierarchy?  In other words, those whose position is not assigned to the hierarchy will still have their leave requests approved by their line manager, while those employees who have their position assigned to the hierarchy will have theirs approved by the Absence Manager?
  3. When associating the Leave hierarchy to the leave workflow the following error is given when booking annual leave:

Stopped (error): X++ Exception: The hierarchy provider did not return any users.

Any help, as always gratefully, received thank you.

    Hi Mancini,

When you enabled the feature for Absence manager then you setup the hierarchy and you need to use this hierarchy for report to position otherwise you wont see data.

    1. Yes, you need to use this hierarchy for report to position.

    2. Not sure

    3. You must check whether the worker is mapped with user relationship.

    Hi Mancini,

For the third question, can you check user relations and see if employee is setup there to make sure employee/worker is linked to user?

Once again, many thanks for your help and confirming what needs to be selected in the Reports to position field.  I will also check the worker mapping
