Frequent "Cannot add separator item" error

We are getting the "Cannot add separator item" error upon launch of GP on a somewhat frequent basis. The fix is easy enough by clearing data on the Menu master table in Maintenance. It says the error is being caused by a "rogue entry" in the Menu Master. Is there a way of seeing what that is? I looked at the Menu Master(SY07110) and there really isn't anything useful(at least for me) to see.

I have the same question (0)

Other than making notes of the records in the Menu Master/SY07110 table before and after they are rebuilt for the user, there isn't any specific process we have on determining what the 'rogue entry' is that is causing the issue.

Each case I've seen with this message, we've always just removed records from the table and have the user(s) relaunch into GP to rebuild the tables, or use ClearData as you mentioned, which resolves the message.

Not sure if anyone in the Community has more information that they've found on this.

    Thanks

You can delete the contents of the syMenuMstr table and it will force the contents to be recreated, but that does not identify the culprit.

If you can replicate, I would suggest making a backup copy of the Dynamics.set launch file and remove products one by one until the error goes away. Start with customizations and then ISV products and finally MS addon products.

If you have GP Power Tools, you can use the Dictionary Control window to remove products from the Dynamics.set file without risk of corrupting it. It also makes backups each time it changes the file.

    Regards
