DIEF - General Journal post is not updating the next voucher number

We are using the DIEF to import a csv file from the sales exported by another system.  In all it is working as expected except it is not updating the next number to allocate correctly in the voucher number sequence.  I have tried using a straight number sequence and also getting the system to allocate the number sequence at the time of posting but I get the same problem.

I have read and checked against the "Importing a General Journal using Data Import/Export Framework AX 2012" and can't see where I could have gone wrong.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

Many thanks

Paulina

    Hello Paulina,

Does every line in your journal have an account and offset account setup?

From the screenshot shown above it looks as if you are making a large split posting that gets only a single number assigned.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Good morning,  Thank you for your answer, I apologise for the delay in getting back to you on this one.  The csv file I am importing does not have the offset account on the individual lines but a balancing entry line in the CSV file.

    Good morning Paulina,

    Can you test the following:

Each journal name has a parameter that allows you specifying the voucher number at the time a posting is made.

The parameter is called 'number allocation at posting' and basically overwrites the temporary numbers that you see when creating journal lines.

Can you check whether this functionality helps you overcoming your issue?

Probably setup a new journal with the parameter active and a specific temporary and final voucher series number in a demo/test environment first to find out.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Paulina,

You are manually assigning the voucher number (number sequence) due to this reason the system does not realise it has been used.

If the system were to generate the voucher number (number sequence) then and only then will the next record in the number sequence be updated.

When uploading a journal using DIEF/DIXF in AX2012 there are 2 options:

    1. Hold on any new vouchers being created that may use up any voucher numbers, then like you have done copy the last number and use that number for the journal to be uploaded. Once completed change the last number in the number sequence manually.

    2. As Ludwig mentioned by changing the journal setup temporarily to "number allocation at posting" this way you can import with any number it doesn't matter it will be overwritten with the correct system suggest last number automatically which in turn changes the next record in the number sequence.

The best way to avoid this use two separate Journal Names such as one is for daily routing journal entry and another is only for purpose of journal upload only. Therefor two seperate JV Name will travel with its own sequesnce.
