Generate a list of the "installed base" at the customers

Hello,

In a certain company they have a service department. A lot of customers of this company have the same products. For example a server/computer of the brand Dell. I have a question about the installed base (realized products) at these customers.

For example customer A reports that his server works very slow. A couple days later, customer B reports the same problem. It seems like this problem can be solved by an update for all customers.

My question is: Is it possible to generate a list in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 of all customers, who use this kind of servers. So the company can update all the servers for their customers, to avoid more troubles.

Kind regards,

Koen Wouters

    Hi Koen,

If you have sales//inventory transactions related to the server and the customer, it is possible to create a query on it.

It would be helpful if you specify in your question some more background information how AX is/will be used.

Can you tell me how to create a query ?

The implementation of AX will start in 2015 but I am not sure of the transaction (Sales and inventory) of the old ERP-system will be copied in AX. It that a problem?

What further information do you need  to know?

    Kind regards,

    Koen Wouters

    Hi Koen,

Somewhere in the system it should be stored in a certain way that customers bought a server. I don't know how it was done in their old system. If it will not be converted to AX, you will have a challenge, so somewhere you need to have the information or also have the old system available for additional inquiries.

With my 'query' I meant a way for inquiry. This could be a form or report, depending on the needs. Sales information might be a source, but also an additional custom table might be a way to store this information.
