I have some questions about licensing the supplier collaboration portal. I have read all the licensing information, and others published by Microsoft but they are not clear for the questions I have, these are the following:
1. If I have a new development developed by my company in D365 and I add a query grid to the role of the external supplier user, does this external user continue to be free?
2. If I look at the privileges associated with an external supplier user role, I find that many of its privileges have a Team Member license type associated with them. But even if this is the case, external supplier users do not pay a license. So, the fact that external supplier users do not pay a license is only due to the fact that in Microsoft Entra (formerly AAD) the user is a Guest?
3. Related to the previous question, if I assign a privilege to an external supplier user for a receipt query form (Vend Packing Slip), does it still not consume licenses that the external supplier user must pay for?
I would really appreciate it if you could help me with these questions.
Licensing Questions for Dynamics 365 for Operations Supplier Collaboration Portal
1. Adding a Query Grid to External Supplier User Role If you add a query grid to the role of an external supplier user, the licensing implications depend on the specific privileges and functionalities you are enabling. Generally, external supplier users are free if they are only accessing basic collaboration features like viewing purchase orders, invoices, and consignment inventory. However, if the new development significantly expands their capabilities beyond these basic features, it might require additional licensing.
2. Team Member License Type and External Supplier Users External supplier users typically do not pay for a license because they are considered "Guest" users in Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory). This guest status allows them to access certain functionalities without requiring a paid license. The association of privileges with a Team Member license type does not necessarily mean that external supplier users need to pay for a license, as long as their access remains within the scope of guest user permissions.
3. Assigning Privileges for Receipt Query Form (Vend Packing Slip) Assigning a privilege to an external supplier user for a receipt query form (Vend Packing Slip) should not consume licenses that the external supplier user must pay for, as long as the privilege falls within the standard guest user capabilities. If the privilege enables more advanced functionalities that go beyond basic collaboration, it might require a paid license. To ensure compliance and avoid unexpected licensing costs, it's best to review the specific functionalities and permissions you are granting to external supplier users.
If in doubt, consulting with Microsoft support or your D365 licensing representative can provide more detailed guidance tailored to your specific scenario.
