what is the difference between portal service and portal application add on?
I am installing portal service for field service- getting the following error.
but under applications I see portal add on configured

First you need to install portal Addon. Pls.read this blog.Probably it can helps you.

You need to first install the Portal Addon. Which is the basic portal. You can then extend it to include the field service or Project service.
