Inventory location/aisle sort code

Hi

I need to know what are sort codes for. I find this field on the Inventory location form [(WMSLocation).sortCode] and Inventory aisles form [(WMSAisle). sortCode].

For what I have read, I believe it is used for picking purposes, especially when working with picking routes.

Are you using Shipments in the Inventory module or the Warehouse management module?

    Hi Terry

I have an issue with Location sort codes. Once the location sort codes are set, do we need to attach this shipment process? because i m no getting the benefit of sort codes and system is picking the item randomly and splitting too?

    Regards

On the Inventory aisle, I assume the 'Starting value' is for automatically assigning Sort codes to locations within the aisle. Either when you create the locations using the Location wizard, or later using the 'Update sort codes' job.

The sort code on the Location itself is used when creating a picking route. AX will list items in order of the Location's Sort Code. That is, the picking route will ask for the item in the location with the lowest sort code to be picked first.
