Excel add-in error when exporting financial dimensions

Hello,

I have a user who wants to export the sub accounts to Excel from the GL -> Setup -> Financial Dimensions -> Financial Dimension values form -> File Export to Microsoft Excel (Ctl-T).

When I do this, it takes literally 2 seconds to produce the sheet.

When my user does this, it chugs along for 30-45 seconds and then produces error dialog from Microsoft Dynamics AX Office Add-In. "An error occurred. The data in the workbook and the behavior of any add-ins may not be correct. Consider contacting your system administrator about this problem.  Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

Things I've tried:

I've cleared the usage data for the form object and anything listed for that same object.

I've deleted auc files.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Excel 2016, AX client, Add-in.

This user is the only one having the problem. I can do this same export from HIS laptop without error. So it is definitely related to his account, whether it is the AX account or the Windows account.

I've asked the user to try this export from another PC, but have not received the results from that yet.

Any thoughts or ideas of what to try are appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

    Hello Steve,

Have you tried deleting and reimporting this user?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Both. I suggested deleting the account as you have already tried clearing usage data

"All the related data linked to the user is cleared" means cached information on the account?  Usage data?

    Hi,

In a lot of situations where only a particular user faces issues, this has worked. This is primarily because all the related data linked to the user is cleared by this process. There are no side effects to deleting and re-adding a user, provided that the user Id is not used as a service account (like workflow etc.)

    Hi Mihaela,

I have already checked the connection options in the add-in and I did create a new configuration pointed to the environment I wish to export from, but that did not solve the issue.

    Hi Gunjan,

I have not tried that. Can you share the logic behind doing that to solve this issue?  Does deleting the user from AX have any side effects to the account in AX being deleted and added again?

    Hi,

Have you tried to delete the user and import him back into AX to check if that resolves the issue?
