Why do I get a duration request for days insted of hours?

Posted on by 37

When sending a resource requirement request, the request show duration as days instead of hours. I have tried to change between schedule modes (fixed duration and fixed effort) and I still get the same outcome. How can I control this view. That we ask for hours instead of days?

When opening the request the hours is correctly, but this view give a wrong first impression of the request.

Thank you!

    Thank you for your feedback!

It is the design of Project Operations it seams like, but it gives a confusing impression for the user.

This is the case in more detail.

    1. I have made a task and set the start date, finish date and effort. That gives a duration on 4 days and effort is set to 48 hours

    2. after created generic resource and generated a requirement duration is shown as 2 days and effort 1.

This means that effort is shown as duration (48 hours = 2 days) and effort means that duration is set to 1 hour in 2 days making it 48 hours as duration shows. My problem with this is that it is confusing for users who would probably change duration to 3 days and effort to 48 hours to make it match defined task. This changes the required hours on the requirement before they submit the request.

Is there somewhere to change this? or do someone have a good solution to make it more user friendly?
My current solution is to lock these fields, so that the users cannot change these fields, but they would probably still question it.

    Hi,

This field is of type duration, and it behaves like that.

Is this showing up in the Schedule Board? What View are you referring to?

    Thanks,
