Hello, I have two Month field. One is a whole number, the other is the corresponding month name. (1,2,3 vs Jan, Feb, Mar) I need the whole number month field for sorting, but would like to show the month name in the list view. Is it possible to hide a field that is being used for sort?

No, but you could move it way over to the right so it is is out of the way (and might not even be visible depending how many columns you have)

in order to be used for sort, the field must be added to the view

You can add only month name field in the columns in the view and then -

You can export the view in a solution and edit the customization.xml.

Change the name of order attribute in fetch xml to the required attribute name (whole number field) and save the file.

Import the solution back and publish the changes.

    Voila!!

    Hello,

In addition to @Aarti Parpiyani suggestion, you might need to add alias for attribute grouping. This is for charts but you can try the same for view configuration - community.dynamics.com/.../162160

XrmToolBox View Designer lets you hide the column on the view.

    Please follow the below steps.

    1) Open your view add column by which you want to sort and Save & Publish (add column under Sort by)

    2) Open View Designer from XrmToolBox, click Open select Entity name and View.

    3) Then Click on Select Columns from the View Designer Ribbon, uncheck the column name which you want to hide. Save and Publish

There you go, your view is sorted with the hidden column.
