How do I ensure I comply with FIFO rules in the warehouse, using expiry dates?

Hi Charlene,
From Dynamics AX Client navigate to:
Inventory management > Setup > Inventory > Inventory model groups
Use this form to create and maintain inventory model groups. Inventory model groups contain settings that determine how items are controlled and handled on item receipts and issues. They also determine how item consumption is calculated.
Unfortunately it is not possible to pick based on expiry date in standard AX. If you are using batch number you can run some reports to see expiring items because you can enter an expiration date on the batch but the reservation process does not consider that field. As per the previous post, you can setup the model group to pick FIFO based on receipt date by checking the reservation- date controlled field in the model group. However you should use batch or serial number in this circumstance because if you partial pick an old transaction, it will split the transaction and the remaining quantity will no longer carry the original receipt date.
If this is really important to you, you might want to look at the process manufacturing module. It has much tighter expiry date control.
