Folder "K:\AOSService" is mapped to the workspace for user "ABC" on the cloud hosted VM

Hi,

A new user is logging into a cloud hosted VM and creating a new workspace(TFS). When the "Metadata" folder on the TFS is mapped to local "K\AOSService" folder it throws the error and this folder is mapped to the workspace "Dev...;ABC".

I have checked through the developer command line "Tf workspaces" and I do not see the workspace mentioned in the error message except the one I am creating.

I have tried the following so far:

  1. Cleared the local machine TFS cache
  2. Tried deleting the workspace through the "Tf workspace..." delete command but it can't find the workspace in the error
  3. Restarted the VM
  4. Checked for any remote workspaces but cannot find any with those credentials

Any pointers will be helpful.

thanks in advance.

Hi, Please check if you have followed steps mentioned in this article

Thank you Mohit for your reply.

Yes I have tried using the "tf workspace /delete..." command to remove the workspace but it comes back with the message that the workspace does not exist.

It seems like an Orphan record in the TFS database? not sure if it stores in a file or database and how to check this further.

Please verify that you are using the command to delete workspace correctly.

Also, if you know the Developer who was using that VM, if you have access to the developer, he/she can login to VSTS in visual studio and delete the workspace manually.

    Hello Ibadur ,

You mentioned, you also check the remote workspace and could not find any related to the current login credential.

You might want to logon directly to the DevOps portal and check who checked in the mapping for that folder.

With the screenshot above, I would contact Winner Siabi to unmap. It makes it easier.

Thank you all for your responses.

The issue got resolved when I used the "tf workspace /delete: "{workspace name};{user's guid}" "

hopefully it can be of help to others.
