Fixed Assets Posting Error for Acquisition/ Acquisition Adjustment Entries

Posted on by

I am receiving this error message;

"Fixed asset 512, value model FNFX-TAX. There is a discrepancy between the journal operations/tax Current and the value model operations/tax Tax.  Fixed asset 512, value model COMP-TAX. There is a discrepancy between the journal operations/tax Current and the value model operations/tax Tax."

I am trying to make an acquisition entry under a new value model, FNFX-TAX and at the same time make an acquisition adjustment entry under the old, and incorrect, value model COMP-TAX.  However, I am unable to do so as I receive this error.  I do not know where this discrepancy exists.  Help would be much appreciated!

RE: Fixed Assets Posting Error for Acquisition/ Acquisition Adjustment Entries

    Hi Ludwig,

So strange. I already posted my reply days ago, but seems it disappeared from here...

I made an additional acquisition for an asset after it has been first acquired for several months (depreciations for those months have been posted). The asset has several derived value models from the Current posting layer's value model.

And I figured out the reason for the error message: The option of "Create depreciation adjustmts with basis adjustmts" was checked. And there's a bug in even AX2012R3CU11 where the mentioned option is checked & there are deriving value models. The bug is fixed in CU12 with hotfix KB3141936.

    Hi S.,

Do you receive the same error message?

What kind of FA transactions do you record?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Chandu,

Thank you for your reply.  To clarify, it is the same asset.  I am simply trying to zero out (using acquisition adjustment) the monetary value of asset on the value model COMP-TAX and acquire the asset under FNFX-TAX at the same monetary value.

If I try to book only the acquisition adjustment entry by itself, I still receive the error.  I have already booked the entry for the current layers by using the acquisition adjustment to asset under the COMP value model and acquiring the asset under the FNFX value model.  That transaction posted with no errors.

RE: Fixed Assets Posting Error for Acquisition/ Acquisition Adjustment Entries

    Hi Chris,

There are 2 layers involved (Current & Tax). I would suggest that you make 2 separate entries.

As I see it the error is coming when you are trying to make a combined entry involving 2

    assets with separate value models.

first make an entry for acquisition adjustment using a control account (check the financial impact) and then make the second entry for acquisition.

This way you can bypass this error.

Please do this in a test server first and then try it in the production environment
