Special Purchase Order No. Missing from Sales Order Line

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We created a sales order (Drop Ship) and we created a Purchase Order by using the Order >>> Drop Shipment >>> Get Sales Order.

When we do that - the Purchase Order Number will populate the Special Purchase Order No. on the Sales Line.

We noticed that for two Sales Orders - it is missing the Special Purchase Order No. on the Sales Line. Is there anything that could cause this field not to be populated or if it got populated to disappear?

The PO has been released and it was already shipped out from the supplier.

I checked the Purchase Line and the "Special Order Sales No." and the Special Order Sales Line No." is populated.

I guess we will need to manually update the details on the Sales Line.

Thanks for your help and I learn something from this and where to look for things.

If the Purchase Order is not yet released to the supplier and if your company policy allows you to delete the Purchase Order and re-create it, my suggestion is to re-create the Purchase Order.  It should be automatically updating the details on the Sales Order.

    Otherwise,

You may manually update the details on the Sales Line.  Also check whether the "Special Order Sales No." and "Special Order Sales Line No." are updated on the "Purchase Line" too.

Yes you can update the information on the missing lines, but do check if there is any activity occurred on those orders or not.

The problem is that it did not populate the Special Purchase Order No. on two sales orders. The others before and after these two orders are fine. I am not able to recreate the issue.

The issue is that users wants to see it and would it be best to update these missing information on the sales line table. This way the users will be able to see it on the sales order.

If there are no customization then the standard NAV logic should take care of populating special Purchase Order No., i don't think you need to modify it to populate that value.

Since I cannot simulate an order with the same details - would it be a good idea to populate the Special Purchase Order Number on the Sales Line Table ?

I am unable to simulate another order with the same details.

Do you have any customization in that area ?
