Delete duplicate sales invoice in NAV 2017

We had two staff members using manual numbers (no idea why or how) and we now have  a posted document and open sales invoice with the same number and need to delete the open sales invoice but can't.  We keep getting the error The Sales header already exists.  How do we clean this up?

    in nav 2017 the no. field is only shown when the field is empty, when creating a new document. so in your case you need the help of a developer.

    That's what we tried but we are not able to access the number to change it, I know were able to in our previous version I assume this has changed in NAV 2017.  Thanks for the explanation.  Is this the only way to change the number so it can be deleted?

    open the sales invoice card, change the no. of the document, press ok.

    I'm not sure how to "debug" and we aren't able to change the sales invoice no.  Unless we are doing it wrong but so far nobody has provided info on how to change the number.

    Can you debug and send the screenhot ? or change the sales invoice No. to something else and delete it.

    try to renumber the open sales header.
