CRM4 - My Business unit is still using CRM4

Posted on by 5

Hi there,

I work for a major Insurance company as the Project Manager within Cloud and Infrastructure Services. We have a business unit using CRM4 and they want to migrate it to the Cloud. As far as I know, CRM 4 was deprecated long ago and made part of Dynamics 365. We are using Dynamics 365 as well as salesforce. I have ot make a recommendation tom on what route we should take. But for this decision I need to obviously have some information on me in terms of Licencing et.c I dont even know how its possible that these users are still using CRM4!!! Where can I find more information on what CRM4 offers in terms of features and then compare that back to Dynamics 365?

Is there an upgrade path?

How do we go about replacing CRM4 with Dynamics 365 - is there a major difference and would it require training?

What is the licencing requirements.

Can anyone please assist.

    Hello Catherine,

We at Microsoft can help you migrate online however, you will have to upgrade your CRM 4.0 instance to CRM 2011( to latest build version 5.0.9690.4439). There are some deprecated features  but , you should be able to re-use most of your customizations and all your data will be migrated seamlessly too.

Check out the migration process  in the whitepaper at https://aka.ms/op2olwhitepaper and email us to discuss further.

    Thanks,

    Pravin Kumar

    Hi CatherineLiberty,

You can follow the CRM 4.0 -> CRM 2011-> CRM 2013 SP1 -> CRM 2015 -> 2016 -> D365 upgrade path or alternatively you can recreate your CRM configuration and customisations in Dynamics 365 and then migrate all data. I recommend going with the migration option since you are already using Dynamics 365. There is a major difference between CRM 4.0 and Dynamics 365 so user training will be required.
