MySQL Integration

My company has MySQL on premise.

I also have Dynamics 365.

I would like to pull data (maybe some day push changes) from MySQL into Dynamics for visibility, analysis, reporting, etc.

What is the best way to do this?  Is there a native connector, or tool?

Thanks,

Terry

    Terry,

There is not native connector and as for me the easiest way is to bring that data to Dynamics using SSIS with KingsWay soft adapters - it has both adapters for Dynamics and MySQL.

Thanks I went out and checked them out.  Looks like they have lots of "toolkits" to purchase including Dynamics.  It says "8 distinct connections" do you know what constitutes a "Connection" is that to a single table?  What if there are related tables do those each count as a connection?

Also, I noticed when I was looking this up there's several other companies that look like they have similar type products ranging from $245 to $6000.  Did you try/test/use any of those before settling on KingsWay?  What was better?  The ones I found that look interesting are: cdata cloud hub, Skyvia on premise data integration, devart DB connectivity, tibco dynamics 365 integration.

I can't give you an answer regarding "8 distinct connections" but I don't think it's related to the number of tables you plan to integrate. But to be sure you better get in touch with vendor for clarification.

Regarding my experience with other products - I tried 2 of those - CData - I will never recommend this product to anyone and CozyRoc - it was before KingsWay but now KingsWay has more features (multithreading for example). Also I can't give you any comment on other products you mentioned.

Historically I started to use KingsWay soft because it was developed by my good friend and I staid with it because this product is awesome!

    Hey Terry,

If the purpose to pull the data from MySQL to Dynamics 365 is just for reporting or visibility, PowerBI can one of the feasible options here which can pull data from Dynamics 365 and MySQL at one place to build your reports and analysis on top of these.

MySQL Integration Analyze and visualize your MySQL data

    Thanks,

Thanks we use Power BI as needed, this is different.  Need data in my dynamics forms (also Power Apps in some cases).  Plus I think Power BI getting data would still run into the same problem of getting data from behind firewalls, security, etc on premise to the cloud?  I know there's a gateway for onpremises but haven't been able to get that to work and even if we did not sure if it can handle this.  I have thousands of entries I would be capturing ever day and updating fields with?

    Thanks,

    Terry

Yes, Power Apps has a preview connector for MySQL which connects through PowerBi Gateway and it is currently in the preview state. This indeed requires some IP addresses to be whitelisted in your firewall depending on your data region.

I know I've been trying to get it to work... but wasnt having any luck.  Thanks for the link to the article I will see if that helps figure out the configurations.
