hi expert, we have problem regarding ssas cube deployment, there are two database Dynamics Ax & Dynamics Ax Initial, when we process cube(in our case sales cube) from Dynamics ax ,so its deploy successfully ,but when we deploy the same cube from Dynamics Ax database,it show us error( login failed for the user,Admin Ax),although i have added this user in Analysis server security tab,but still not workable, one thing more that our DB(dynamics ax) are on another server, and analysis server on different,

for the time being i just copy the connection string of Dynamics ax initial database and paste in Dynamics ax database connection string, but i am confuse that the is that a healthy practice or not?

or another suggestion is to keep together Analysis & Db on same server ?

so please guide me

Regards.

    For login failed issue:

Use the provider Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server

    Give the correct connection string

Click the test connection button to confirm that is it connecting or not.

Set the Impersonation Info property value to ImpersonateAccount (username and password)

For performance and storage concern, we can use different server. One for database and another one for Analysis server.

thanks for your valuable suggestion, but i want to know what is best practice, in both cases, for deploy and process cube in Dynamic ax db  i just  copy the connection string from Dynamics ax Initial db and paste into connection string of Dynamics ax db, so its work for me , means that now the cubes are process and deploy successfully,i want to clear if i make some customization in cubes then want to replicate it in AX db so every time i will change the connection string of AX db!

If you simply copy and paste the connection string (with out changing the server name and database), you are going to use one database data on two SSAS db.

    To deploy the cube:

AX Development workspace -> Tools -> Business Intelligence (BI) tools -> SQL Server Analysis Services project wizard

I hope that once you deployed the cube, the connection string will be changed based on the deploying AX environment.

For example, if you deploy the SSAS project on the development environment, the development database connection string will be applied

If you deploy the SSAS project on the production environment, the production database connection string will be applied

boss we have deploy the cubes from development environment ,so definitely the connections string will be of development environment, after deployment in analysis server two type of database are created, Microsoft Ax Database and  Microsoft Ax Database initial database, fine, now if I make some customization in my any cube and want to replicate that changes In development environment Ax database, so for this I just copy the connection string from  Microsoft Ax Database initial database and past into  Microsoft Ax Database connection string, both having different connection string, one have for local host ,and the other one having connection string on which our Dynamic Ax Database installed. so my question is that every time I will change the Microsoft Ax Database connection string to replicate my modification in AXDB.?

"after deployment in analysis server two type of database are created"

Two types of database created means newly creating. If yes, I am not sure why two SSAS DB are created. It should be one. Please delete the both database and try to redeploy the cubes and mention the correct database name on the SSAS project deployment wizard.

Please try to understand by changing the connection string won't replicate your modification. Connection string is used to get the data from the source. But cube structure are different.
