Ax 2012 security roles migrated from ax 2009 user groups

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi ,

 Greetings ,

Recently we migrated data from ax 2009 to ax 2012 R3.

ax 2009 user groups are converted in 2012 as security roles by using security upgrade tool.

Standard menu items are came with the privilege's  with access level into roles

But most of custom menu  items are not mapped under corresponding roles.

Please suggest me better solution to how to map  privileges as like ax 2009 in ax 2012.

Thanks in advance

RE: Ax 2012 security roles migrated from ax 2009 user groups

I would like to clarify the intent of upgrading from AX 2009 to AX 2012 R3 ? Is the plan to upgrade security role from AX 2009 to AX 2012 R3 to later update it do Dynamics 365 ? If so I would advise against it as Dynamics 365 has changed a lot with respect to AX 2009 and customer should plan re-implementation rather than code upgrade path. Specially on the security front advise would be to utilize the standard role or create a copy of the standard roles and modify/add new privilege's and duties as per the customer requirement.
