Administration Mode - flows known issue

(1) ShareShare

We're looking to put a production environment into Administration Mode during maintenance (solution imports). This seems ideal because it provides an easy way to lock out users AND show them a message telling them why.

However, the documentation says: "Known Issue: After taking the environment out of admin mode, flows may not trigger as expected until caches have been cleared; this can take up to 24 hours."

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/power-platform/admin/admin-mode

Which I'm reading as, "your environment will probably not work properly for a while afterwards, maybe a day". Which would be out of the question for production.

Does that only apply if the Background Operations option is Disabled? I.e. This could safely be used in production, as long as Background Operations = Enabled?

Background operations (optional) Select to disable all asynchronous operations (see Asynchronous service) such as workflows and synchronization with Exchange. Emails will not be sent and server-side synchronization for appointments, contacts, and tasks are disabled. Note: Administration mode must be enabled to disable background operations.

    Hey!

From the documentation, this applies to "admin mode" (not only Background operations disabled).  As the access to other users is prevented, the cache might store unnecesary data. Once the AdminMode is removed, the cache needs to be cleared so workflows use the right credentials and are triggered appropriately.

Thank you. I've been trying to find out what "cache" that is referring to. Is there a name for it? Or is it the user browser cache?

    Hey!

The cache that has to be cleaned is on the Azure Services side.

And there's no way for us to force it to clear immediately, I take it.
