Hello all,

I got an issue when i want to build my project solution.

ERROR "X++ project cannot be built. Another build is in progress"

I foundd some threads on this but any which gave the solution for a beginner like me.

What should i do to fix it ?

I tried to restart the VM but it didnt reach my goal.

Thanksfully.

    Hi Mack,

I haven't seen a similar issue before. It is strange that after a restart you again get this error. Can you tell the exact steps you perform to open Visual Studio, your solution and how you start the build process?

    Hello Mack,

Just like Andre said, this is strange.

Please, confirm that the VM restart was done from the VM itself or from LCS. Kindly retry the restart and open Visual studio as administrator.

Can you confirm if you are talking about FO visual studio or ax 2012? Because I have seen same error in ax 2012.

    Hi all,

Yes i'm talking about FO visual studio 2017.

    I'm on a local Hyper-V VM.

To answer Andre Arnaud de Calavon and Komi.

    Here is the steps.

I was on VS and i launched a runnableclass to debug and then i got an memory issue and VS crashed.

So i cleaned temporary files to make some space and restarted VS.

After i tried to launch a second time my job but it appears this ERROR message.

    Regards

Can you restart the IIS express and try again? Due to vs crash the build did not stop. So try restarting IIS and prior that restart the batch, reporting services and www service and try again.

    Hi Mack,

Thanks for your latest reply. What is in this case the difference between restarting of the server and restart the VM (mentioned in your first question)? In my understanding there is no difference and I assumed you did do this already before you started your question.

Anyway, great that your issue is solved!
