Hello experts,
I setup a simple inventory adjustment workflow, purpose is to have someone approve the journal before posting. It seems ok, no error after validation. The problem I have is that the approver does not get the option to Approve/Reject under the Workflow option. I based the setup on this documentation: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/supply-chain/inventory/inventory-journal-workflow
I am assuming this has something to do with security but not sure which one to add to my users role for them to see the button. Any advise?
Hi MS Burog,
The issue can have three different reasons.
1) Security. To exactly know if it is related to security, you can test by temporary adding the system administrator role. If that solves the issue, then indeed it is related to security.
2) Batch framework. The workflow state engine works via the batch framework. Has the workflow configuration wizard been used to setup the required batch jobs? Is the batch group part of the batch server and is the batch server in the Dynamics 365 client application enabled? If this is a tier-1 environment (DEV, build, demo) you can also check if the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Batch service in Windows services is running. If this seems to be OK, then check if the batch jobs are regularly running correctly.
3) The workflow instance ended in an error or unrecoverable state. You can check on the Workflow history form if the instance is in the error list or still pending. If it is pending on the name of the user, then it would also be likely the security issue.
Hi Andre',
Yes thanks very much for the insight. Batch jobs working. I seem to find the issue regarding the security, it requires me to add warehouse manager standard role to my test user to be able to approve the workflow. Would there be any specific duty or privilege to manage the access just for the workflow?
Thanks!
I would suggest that you try with the duty: "Approve inventory adjustment journal"
While that does not only grant access to post inventory adjustments through workflow, it probably contains the posting components you need.
I assume the privilege: "Post inventory adjustment journal" is the actual privilege needed, but you can try that out after verifying if the duty works.

Hi Nikolaj,
Yes I had that on my customize role. I am just after the duty or privilege to enable to see the Workflow action tab and have the option to Submit/Approve and others.
I think it is duty Maintain inventory journal workflow.
