Put PO categories on hold as part of the monthly close process

Hi All,

We recently implemented the Purchasing modules in AX 2012 R2 and I wanted to hear some of your thoughts. Our finance team requires the ability to put specific categories on hold as part of the monthly close process. For example we would close purchasing for the legal department while still allowing the marketing team to finish up their last minute POs for the month.

I know that you can shut modules down and only allow certain user groups to access them but this seems like a lot to manage.  Is there a better way to do that? I am open to any suggestions. Thanks!

    HI,

There is not a real support for this requirement. You can play with several settings, but it will be unwieldy. But why can't the finance team not wait until every department completed their PO's? What type of actions needs to be restricted (creating or posting invoices)?

    Hi Andre,

Thanks for your reply. We start our closing process around the 20th of the month so we need to restrict people from all aspects of the purchasing process. The action of creating or posting invoices as well as receiving goods needs to be restricted.

    Thanks,

    Dave
